Awards for awful lighting, to create better.
The CRI Awards highlight, design and implement positive change to awful lighting environments within cities, with the ultimate goal of increasing the scale of public design intervention.
Our mission is to make things better, one place at a time.
We are living in an era that's obsessed with focusing and rewarding only the best lighting projects within our cities.
Whilst this is important, it's also essential to highlight what's not good within our urban environment and provide ways in which we can make it better.
Addressing awfully bad lighting!
1. you FIND
Find a project in the public realm that's awfully lit and photograph it. It can be a facade, park, path, landmark, structure, sculpture or other icon. No project is too small.
2. submit entry
Fill in the entry form with up to 3 images, plus the location and a statement of why it's awfully lit.
3. CRi DESIGNs
The Cri design team and students select a shortlist of four entries and get to work to design lighting solutions for each project.
4. public VOTEs
You can then vote for any one of the four shortlisted entries and any one of the new designs.
5. win awards
The entrant whose project receives the most votes will win a Basel Table Lamp. The most popular CRI design upgrade will be constructed. These will be announced at the awards night.
6. cri constructs
The winning CRI design upgrade will then be installed with the support of our partners.
